In the one-day workshop, Mrs. Hoffman will supply sets of rulers for each attendee to practice the Progressive Ruling methods of adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions. She will show how this hands-on method correlates to the abstract methods taught in modern textbooks. Progressive Ruling is not a method for computing fractions, but is instead a method of explaining how and why the abstract methods work. She will use the same teaching practices that she has used in her own teaching career.
Scheduling times for the workshops should be flexible to accomodate her other obligations.
